During the last winter vacation I got an opportunity to visit Bagerhat, a great historical place. The mazar of Khan Jahan Ali is a fine one steroid building. It has a beautiful dome. Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali buried here. The tomb is made of cut out stones. There is a small mosque nearby. A close associate of Khan Jahan Ali also buried outside the tomb. On full moon night of the bangle month of chaitra a big fair is held beside thee mazar. Many people from different region attend in the fair. There is a big tank in front of the mazar. The local people call it the Dighi of Khan Jahan Ali. There are some crocodiles in this big tank. I also visited the Satgambuj Mosque. It is a big and beautiful building. Khan Jahan Ali made this mosque in Bagerhat district in the middle of 15th century. This mosque is located on the estern bank of a vast water tank. The roof of the mosque is supported by 77 squat domes. The vast prayer hall of the mosque has 11 arched doorway on east and 7 each on and south for ventilation and light. It has 7 longitudinal corridors. Architecturally, the interior and exterior of the mosque is quite plain. But the interior western hall was decorated beautifully with terracotta flowers and foliage. The mosque is one of the architectural manifestations of Bangladesh. It has become the main attraction for the tourists for its stately historical magnificence. Besides being used as a prayer hall, the mosque was also used as the court of Khan Jahan Ali. There is also another dighi near the Satgambuj Mosque. This dighi is known as the Ghora Dighi. I also visited the dighi and knew many things about the social work of Khan Jahan Ali. Bagerhat is really a place of historical interest.
